What is a Spanish word frequency list?
A frequency list ranks words by how often they are used in real language. Learning them in order is efficient: the most common words appear so often that a small set carries most of everyday conversation. This list is built from spoken Spanish (film and television subtitles), so it reflects how people actually talk rather than formal writing.
Each entry shows the English meaning, the part of speech, and the pronunciation: IPA, syllable breaks, and which syllable takes the stress. Pronunciation follows Latin American Spanish.
Start here: the first 100 words
The first 100 words alone cover about 51% of everyday spoken Spanish. If you are starting out, learn these first. Everything after builds on them.
